DIALOG BOX UTILITY NEEDED
« on: 18 Mar 2003, 23:52:30 »
Hye guys, i really need to get some dialog box's into my missions, the only thing is that i cant understand them one bit, the tutorial was very hard to understand and I cant seem to coax anyone to teach me privately.

I was looking at the Code the other day and immediately tought that a utility that took care of all of this would be nothing short of fantastic, you could update some of the other escription.ext file editors.....what would be ideal is t have a litle graphical editor that you could make basic shapes etc for buttons and the program would code it all in or you, colour and everything.

Is there a description.ext and dialog box demi god out there that can help me?

Nasty Buttler, you've posted in the right place for suggesting a utility (maybe one day .....) but for help on dialogue boxes generally you'll probably have more luck on one of other boards.

Ask a specific question ...... just saying "I don't understand" doesn't give your prospective advisors much to go on.     If you can find some missions with dialogue boxes you could un-pbo them - that might help too.    And try searching the FAQ and the forums.    Sometimes you can find a snippet of information that is just enough to help you get started on something.

I'm sure somebody will help you.  :)   (Sadly I know nothing about them.)

Good luck!
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

Tychon is currently developing such a dialog editor. Take a look here:

It's already an excellent tool and with a few more features (he already plans to implmement) will be absolutely fantastic.

While I am all for a dialog editor, I can help you with creating one in the meantime. It is actually much simpler than you think. I should know... I was in the same position as you.

email me at crashdome@wi.rr.com and if you have an ICQ# then go ahead and include it in there. I will get back to you asap (although it might not be until the next day).

Old Thread rises again!

But I have a problem...

Call me stupid but, uhm, how does that thing work? I'm really, really, really bad at dialoges, that's why I really, really, really need this program.
