drunk waypoints. . .
« on: 08 Mar 2003, 09:49:58 »
Ok I seem to have a problem with waypoints....One of the easiest things is becoming quite frustrating. Getting choppers to move exactly where I put the waypoint is becoming a frustrating task. It doesnt do this all the time, but when it does its quite annoying. For example I'm trying to have my little bird land next to a house and dump my guys off ( this has nothing to do with any blackhawks down  :D  ) I put the waypoint where I want the chopper to go but it just wont go there. I have to constantly move the waypoint off of target to get it right. Is this just the way it is or has my operator error kicked in. Thanks in advance. . . .

It's not a waypoint problem, its a heli problem.      I'm not an expert - I just stay away from them - but make sure you have had a good look through the chopper tutes in the Ed Depot.    Search the forum and the FAQ as well, heli problems come up all the time.

However, to get a chopper to hand in a specific place, its generally advisable to place an invisible H and use put

chopper1 land "land"

in the on activation field of the waypoint that is placed over the H.    That should help.   Make sure the landing place is flat.

Would that still work using snYpir's "fast landing" script? That is what I am using for this mission. Thanks in advance....

oooor.... Just put the invisibel h on the spot they should land and then put the waypoint on the invisible h... i think its named h (invisible) in the empty objects menu.... If you put the waypoint on the h the chopper always land on it...

The reason helos deviate from their waypoints is the speed, at least when u use flyinheight or snypirs script, cause the chopper cant flare out.......

Have a brake waypoint first with a flyinheight a bit higher than your incoming height, and set speed to limited...
