Heli Landing troubles
« on: 14 Feb 2003, 17:15:10 »
Hi my problem is that I want my sniper to be extracted from a certain point by a blackhawk, and when the blackhawk reaches the lz he just hovers in the air??? Ive synchronzied all the waypoints and everything but he just wont land to pick up the sniper. I used the waypoint "load" for the UH-60 and "get in" for the sniper and synchronzied both of them, any ideas?

There are a couple of heli tutes in the Ed Depot, check them out.    Choppers are notorious for this sort of thing.

Try putting this in the on activation field of the heli WP

heli1 land "LAND"

syntax not guaranteed so check it in the command reference, also in the Editors Depot.

If you know the spot try putting an invisible heli H there.   They like that.

No the invisible H doesnt work, Ive even tried different commands like the fly in height one and nothing works it just hovers there as the time ticks by.

try using flyinheight, you can have him hover at 1 m waiting for you, and its muck more accurate...

Is the landing ground flat?  I have a vague recollection that a chopper will not land on sloped ground.

Well it does land in a sloped area so I will try to find a flatter lz.

Go to the editor's depot and go to the airborne section of the script snippets.  Go to this snippet:  "How to make a chopper wait until everyone is aboard" by snYpir

DL the script.  That should save you some frustration.  It works quite well.  As long as i am understanding your problem correctly this should fix it.  Your guy should be able to get on.
