« on: 30 Jan 2003, 16:30:33 »
Hey!  When playing a MP co-op i crashed my chopper, A guy watching this from the ground played a SFX that had "Whoa! That was coool!" in a beavis and buthead style.
How do I do this?

Thx in advance.  ;D

I think you just create a folder called sound here

C:\Program Files\Codemasters\OperationFlashpoint\Users\Yourname\

and put your sounds in there, I don't think any editing's needed.

yeah I sussed it! when ingame they appear under the custom bit of your command/orders thing.
i.e 0-0-9-1.
Thx for the quick reply anyway :)

Anyone know the file size limit per sample(so as not to lag etc?)

I was told on my server that anything under 30k, up to 9 sample sounds is o.k.
But i would think the larger your sound file is, the longer it takes to load a map on a server/join games etc. (Are these sounds heard in realtime or does the server have to make sure everyone has all these sounds in a tempory folder???)

They are downloaded and uploaded when you join the server and stored on your harddrive in a temporary folder.

Is there any way u can have more than 10 custom sounds ingame? (I.e. Samples that u put in your "Sound" folder 0-9-1 etc.)
So far i have 10 sounds at a total of 320kbs, The highest single sample is 32kbs but i think you can go higher. All I do is adjust the bitrate to 64kbps (Sometimes you need it to be higher, just play around with it) and they all work in game.

So Anyone know how to have more than 10 custom sounds?

This is by far, the worst feature ever in OFP. A person who plays custom butthead sounds is slighly less annoying than a TK'er. >:(

Ohhh! Get you!
Actually it's for the cops and robbers mod, if youv'e ever played it you'll know that typing whilst chasing a criminal is impossible so I've ripped some sounds to make it easier to communicate between you and your fellow officers.
I'll get off my high horse now and give it back to toadlife....
