actually I think he means LRSU..their long range survelliance units that are attached to all army divisions.  Their main mission is recon.  They are the direct decendants of Vietnam LRRPs. I got to meet a couple LRS guys at Fort Bragg last year...their some squared away guys....

LRRP's are/were rangers i believe, they probably just carried more equipment than normal rangers/were more specialised, you should be able to use the upcoming woodland rangers from BAS for this...

I mean Long Range Survelliance Detachment. The are similar the SF but they do not have direct action mission. It is really hard to get in there since they choose their own members. The ones I was thinking of are the ones attached to the 101 Abn (311 MI Batt LRSD).

Eviscerator, yes it is true that they are rangers. You have to have gone to ranger school and airborne school to be able to to get in LRSD.
And yes it is also true that they carry more equipment then a normal ranger (reason being that they stay a pretty long time in the field, sometimes 4-5 weeks). A normal ammo loadout for a lurp is 17 mags + full reload, 3 claymores and one LAW (yes they do still use them) some also carry extra ammo for the MGs or the 203s. They are also known to use the tiger stripe uniform sometimes.

sounds like the LRRP's from the nam pack will do the job then, they wear tigerstripe, although not 20 mags, ofp only allows 10 slots
