Editor bug??
« on: 03 Jan 2003, 05:18:24 »
Here is my problem.  I make missions, and i have millions of addons, so i dont know when i put addons in, so i look at the mission's .sqm for any addons i put in.  So i start deleatin stuff out of the game.  I am down to just one guy in the game and nothing else, i deleted everything, and they .sqm still says that those addons are still there, and needed.  So if i try to host a mission that i have made where i have tried to delete the addons, the people still get kicked for addons they dont have that arent even in the mission.  If there is anything anyone could tell me to help with this problem it would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Phil

Are you sure you are deleting the mission .pbo before you save it again? The editor does NOT overwrite a previously saved single/multiplayer mission, you must delete the .pbo, then go back in and save it again in the mission editor.

Hoot out!
What..me worry?

If the editor is not automatically removing the unused add-ons from the list of add-ons in the mission, then you can manually remove them with any text editor, such as Notepad.  Just open the .sqm file with the text editor and delete the lines containing the add-ons that you aren't using.  Keep in mind that the last item in each add-ons list does not end with a comma, but the others do.

or you could copy everything in your level and paste it into a new one...could work better than starting all over again.

The editor WILL NOT remove the reference to the addons even when you delete them from your mission. Follow Ranger's suggestion and delete them from the .sqm with a text editor.

Are you using Resistance?  If so, the way I understand it, is that if you delete an addon from the mission, then preview the mission, it will remove that addon from the mission.sqm...

I have seen this work many times as I have designed a lot of missions.   ;)

If that doesn't work, yep, time to get out trusty notepad and do some deleting in there!    8)
