Some Help Needed
« on: 04 Dec 2002, 15:53:07 »
The problem is that I cannot open a p3d file in oxygen2light. I depbo'ed the data3d file, then unencrypted one of the p3d's with unpack-sqm. When I try to load the unencrypted p3d it returns a "load error" message. Some of the p3d's seem to load OK (e.g. Makarov Pistol from Kegety's Russian Weapons Pack), but majority of the files fail to load. Can someone explain this to me? Thanks in advance.

I don't mean to be rude but this has been explained a hundred times and is in this forum  ::)

The file formats are different that's all, the difference is ODOL ans MLOD - that's why yoiu could open the makarov because it wasn't compressed so O2 could still read it. The BIS ones are the other way except for demo models.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't know about different model formats, since I'm relatively new to the OFPEC forums. But the question remains: how do I overcome this situation if I need a model that's not present in OFP demo?

unfortunately you cant overcome it.
a little time with o2,and you will find
its not too hard to create your own models.
the demo models are an excellent resourse
for how the models for the game work
and what is required in making one that will
work ingame.
