check if lights are on?

let me explain the situation,

I'm working on a mision where you as a special ops have to destroy some Shilka's deep in enemy territory. That's a simple thing to do, the difficulty is to get out of there. When the tanks are destroyed or you are detected by the guards an alarm goes off, enemy troops start patroling, and two choppers take of and search the area with their searchlights in careless mode.

Now I want to change the behaviour to aware or combat of the choppers when you're in one of the cars and put your headlights on.

How do I check this? With a script? I'm a bad scripter...

I only saw a command in com ref to check if lampposts or on or not, but headlights ??

Sorry if this was posted before, I couldn't find one in the archive...

It's a MP mission (night) with max 2 players in OFP 1.46
There are 3 cars that you can steal.
