can everyone who is getting frequent crashes email me a copy of their flashpoint.rpt file? eviscerator@concept-5.com

its best to send it just after youve had a crash, so i can show somsone at bis which report it is

I would if I could, but it has not crashed on me since I did a reformat, but I have stayed of a couple of units I really didn't need for my Team CoOp MP mission. Will do as soon as I get one, not that I think I am, but...   :)

This can't have anything to do with RAM since it has crashed on me while I was alone, alone in the dark, alone in the whole Ia Drang Valley. (this was after I removed a lot of stuff I had placed around, thus strenghtening my faith in one of the units in the Nampack)

Landrover-

Yep I lowered my textures to 512x512 also, it seemed to help.
Also, STT and ebud have mentioned disabling object shadows in OFP.

Well I'm off to crash my system so I can send Evis a report ;D

Let's see, how about a Cobra COMPANY vs an NVA Bn, on Ia Drang! :wow:

That oughta do it.

Deschidado:

I don't have a clue why you are getting crashes. Awesome system.

Edit: You stated you have not had any crashes since a reformat/reinstall. Were there any other addons in your folder, that aren't there now? Just a thought........

Off to try to force a crash 8)

Why do I have to be a Rocket Scientist to make a good mission?

the thing is, I and probably STT and Ebud too, have played with every single vehicle, weapon and soldier, i havent noticed a spontaneous lock up from using one unit, anyway someone from bis is going to take a look at the problem, hence my asking for the .rpt files :)

I had a some other addons before the the reformat, but ow I only have this pack. So I put it in a folder called Vietnam/Addons

Then I have it start of with -mod=Vietnam

I have put up a test map on the beta testing forum (Team CoOp - Nampack 2.0), I have not had any crashes with it, but perhaps some others may try it too?

Hey all...the Colonial Wars mod has a nice Mosin-Nagant and a few other nice Soviet weapons that might have seen service in 'Nam. Tales of war should be coming out with a very nice new M-14 soon.

By the way, the helo AI is simply amazing... just the Hueys and the Chinook would have been worth the download. They fly the safest routes to the waypoints, strafe well, and wait to pick up ALL of the troops trying to board.

How did I not notice this before? Awesom, awesome awesome.

I have had no freezing problems and I have a pretty low end system.  The pack is pretty much perfect imo.

One thing that bugs me though is the sound for the M60s on the choppers.  They are so quiet its almost impossible to hear them while flying.  I think the M60s on the choppers should use the same sounds from the hand held m60s.

Another thing that kinda bugs me is there are a lot of units that are almost exactly the same.  For example a lot of the "US Army" and "US AirCav" soldiers are almost exact duplicates.  Im not positive but I think ive read that having a lot addons can hurt your performance, so it would be nice if addon makers could trim down their packs to what is really necessary, not to mention it adds a lot of clutter to the unit lists in the mission editor.

Another good example of this would be the UH-1D and UH-1H.  The only difference as far as I can tell is that the UH-1H carries more soldiers.  Doesnt that maked the 1D version pretty much useless?

After a week or two of playing around with the pack these are the only things Ive found wrong with it.  Other than that this is by far the best addon out there in my opinion, even though I had no prior interest in Viet Nam addons.  After playing with this pack I actually went out and bought We Were Soldiers lol. Keep up the good work :)

Thanks for the comments people, we're still trying to track down the cause of the crashes. As Evis said, send the rpt files to him so we can try to get them analysed.

re: Army units..
I agree that we should be careful not to clutter up the editor too much, the use of the seperate vehicle classes i think helps alot. The Army units were included more as a matter of completeness, we got all these Army Heli's flying around and no Army!

The reason the D and H models are there is more historical. The original Nam Pack 1 came with a Huey (non-targetted by the AI), another was added in the Module A - the attackable versions.

To maintain consistency between Pack 1 and Pack 2, I had to put 2 Hueys in...to match the classnames used in Pack 1. It made sense to use the D and H distinction as they were basically the same helicopter but the H had a engine upgrade, therefore a higher cargo capacity. The aim: missions made with pack 1 that used either of the 2 Pack 1 Hueys will still work.

Like he said ;)

Seriously, in the beginning we just had Aircav troopers, and that was a perfect compliment to the Helo's. Now that we have armor, there really needed to be line infantry to go with them.

In regards to them all looking the same, they're close, but there is quite a bit of variety. I had wanted to give the line units rucks to really differentiate them from the Aircav troops, but they were a huge hit to the framerate. So they were removed before they got to far along. So now the regular use much of the same p3ds as the aircav.
If you're in a war, instead of throwing a hand grenade at the enemy, throw one of those small pumpkins. Maybe it'll make everyone think how stupid war is, and while they are thinking, you can throw a real grenade at them.

Hi great addon guys, keep up the good work!

I've made a coop mission in which you have to walk a looong way in the jungle and peeps seem to like it (even played it with a real veteran from the war and it gave him flash backs) but after an hour or so my game crashes... so it could still happen after quite some time... just thought you might wanna know :/

Cheers :)

Hi

Are there any new missions out there?  I keep checking these sites, op-nam.de, QuangTri's site, and Hawkins site, but nothing new!
Anyone?  Maybe I should give it some more time?

Well, perhaps you could start by browsing the Beta forum? Mission makers need's someone to test out their missions you know...   :)

Honestly, I can't say enough good things about this addon..BI should be paying yall! I had gotten to the point wondering what to do with OFP..you can only go through the 3 campaigns so many time before it gets old.  So thanks NAM PACK team for putting new life into my favorite game.  BTW are yall considering any new Vietnam maps? Ia Drang is nice but so more areas would be cool too..like a Mekong Delta type map...just a thought....again thanks for the pack...

This must sound stupid, but the game just crashed on me and since I wanna be a good man and help you out I started looking for the flashpoint.rpt file, but nope, did a total search on my hard drive (everywhere), but didn't find it.  ???

What am I missing? (except intelligence)

By the way, this is the mission that crashed on me, it is a multiplayer mission (ofcourse Nampack2 only)

I played as West Marine Soldier 12.

Desdichado: i cant find mine either, not sure where its gone, ive made a blank file called flashpoint.rpt, im hoping when i next crash it will start writing in it, thanks for the mission ill see if i can get it to crash, i just spent 30mins playing a really laggy mission and no crash, i suppose a watched kettle never boils or something like that ;)
