Covert Chopper Insertion
« on: 27 Oct 2007, 12:03:39 »
Hello Everybody,

I am new to OFP Editing,so I am asking for help here.

The matter is,I am doing some practice making OFP missions on Special Operations. The main problem for me now is how to make a covert chopper insertion into enemy controlled territory.

I have no problems with Commando Team boarding and disembarking the chopper, the main problem is that I simply can't do anything to make chopper leave the Landing Zone and fly to the next waypoint (actually Forward Operative Base). After Commando Team is inserted, the chopper continues to stay in the Landing Zone with engines turned on.It just does not want to return to Base.

The waypoints I enter are the following:

Insertion:

1."Get in" synchronized with "Load" - Everything is OK here.
2."Unload"-Everything is OK here too. This is a waypoint for chopper only.
3."Move to"-This is a waypoint for chopper, ordering it to return to Base. The chopper continues to stay at the "Unload" waypoint, although all the units have left it's cargo compartment.

I will be very grateful to anybody, who can provide me some help on solving this particular "Move to" waypoint problem.

With Best Regards.  :)

P.S. I am using Operation Flashpoint Resistance Version 1.96 with a great deal of various Addons.

WhiteTiger  :welcome: to the forums. i think if you put=   this setBehaviour "Careless"   in the unit of the copper that might solve the moveto or type=  choppername setBehaviour "Careless" in the waypoint unload and make sure that it is at careless in the landing at your Forward Operative Base. sometimes choppers in ofp can be difficult. if that doesnt work tell us what addons your using too. there are also some chopper landing scripts in the Editors Depot too!
      :) hope that helps, schuler

Try a 'Transport Unload' waypoint instead of the 'Unload' waypoint.

Or try the small example missionette attached.

Thanks guys for your quick replies.  :)

Unfortunately,I am still struggling with this problem.

I am using AFR RAF CH-47 Chinook HC.2 helicopter and Bleed's U.K. DPM SAS Soldiers. In CAT Afghanistan Final island I am trying to write down some missions on British SAS long range patrolling operations in Afghanistan.

The main idea here is to insert 8-men team for long range hostile territory patrol. In the starting point (SAS Forward Operative Base) there is a CH-47 Chinook helicopter, and this team must board this helicopter. After that, this helicopter will fly far to the other side of the island and insert this 8-men team. After insertion, this chopper must immediately depart back for starting point (SAS Forward Operative Base). My team will patrol on foot further.

I tried "Transport Unload" waypoint option, but it was absolutely the same.Helicopter lands and continues to stay in the Landing Zone with it's engines turned on.It does not want to leave for the next waypoint.

I have been thinking about putting two synchronized waypoints at the unload.Like loading waypoints are synchronized.I think that the only problem here is that chopper's crew simply does not understand that chopper's cargo has been unloaded successfully.  :(

I got it working  :)

Well,I placed an "Unload" waypoint for the chopper and "Get Out" waypoint for the SAS Team and synchronized both these waypoints.

As a result, chopper does not land in the Landing Zone any longer. It hangs and waits for the team leader to disembark, after my disembarkment I order  other team members to disembark by hitting "4"-"Disembark" keys. After this, helicopter goes a bit down and departs after all the team have disembarked.

So,in principle,everything is OK.  :)
