The setpos
« on: 22 Jul 2007, 07:39:08 »
Can I ask you guys two questions?

In my mission, I have a wall right? And basically, it's using the setpos script thingy, so it's like quarter or half a metre in the air. I intended it to be like that. But wait, how do I make it so the wall piece is lying flat in the air? The wall's using the setdamage command so it get's damaged and therefore goes flat - but how do I make the wall piece flat using setpos? Because I don't want the wall piece to look like it's falling when I start the mission.

The script for one of the walls looks like this:
this setpos [(getpos this select 0),(getpos this select 1),1];

And also, for some reason I can't run the Editor103 addon - is this because I don't have Resistance? So for this map I'm doing, I'm using Editor102. The main question is, is Editor103 backwards compatible?

Thanks guys. :)

IIRC you can rotate something in the horizontal plane using setDir, and you can move it anywhere with setPos, but you can't rotate it in any other way.   In other words you can't lie something on its back.

Get Resistance if you possibly can.   It's well worth it.    Resistance editor addons are not backwards compatible because they use objects which are not in Cold War Crisis.

Doubt I'd get Resistance. Not because I hate it or anything - but because I'm only 13, and other reasons...

What would happen if someone with Resistance had both the Editor102 and Editor103 addons in OFP? Would that cause any clashes in the game? (Just curious.)

Well, thanks anyway for telling me this. Appreciated! :good:

Yes, depending on the exact circumstances having more than one editor addon in your addons folder can lead to weird stuff happening.   It is not advisable.

Woot macguba! Check this out!, quoted from the Editor103 readme:

Quote
It is 100% compatible with existing 102 editors (see below)

What I'm working on in OFP is items I've created using existing items (more specifically, sniping bunkers/hideouts lol). People can just open up my map, copy something, and paste it into their mission and viola! When I release this, it would be a great honour if it can be put somewhere on the site for people to DL (that is, if you think it's worthy ;)).

Thanks for the help macguba. :P

Things like this used to be known as "setPos" creations.

I suggest you create a very simple Overview, Briefing and a readme with a full listing of what you have created and where.   In other words package it as a mission, but submit it to the Editors Depot since it will be a resource for mission editors, not somethng you would actually play.

Hehe don't worry I know exporting the mission as a .pbo won't work out. I'll of course have to package un-exported so people can open it up in the MED.

I've currently got 8 or 10 setPos creations... and I'm aiming for a plethora more. About say... more than 20? I was thinking of 50, but I'm not sure.

The map will be limited to just sniper bunkers/hideouts. I might also include minor extras - but generally, it's sniper stuff. :)

I would say that between 20 and 50 is the right number.    Too few and the mission designer won't find what he wants .... too many and he won't be able to find it either.

Btw please don't quote the whole of the previous post in your post.    We know that's what you're replying to.   ;)   The quote button is for highly relevant snippets of earlier posts.
