Variable set trouble

Ok this is very hard to explain so ill just describe the problem as best i can
im using a script on dropping vehicles from planes/choppers
and im having trouble when setting the variable
the variable is release1
in the trigger i put release1=1 and i have TRIED true as well
BUT it will only drop the cargo if i use a radio command
and i dont want to use a radio command!! ;D
but when i dont use a radio comm. it dose not seem to say set and the cargo starts to drop but 1 sec later it resets itself back on the plane, i have the trigger set to once.
is there a command to keep a variable set?
or if not how about a command to activate a radio command?
thanks,

there is a small problem using triggers with aircraft, in that triggers arent always fired off if the aircraft is above about 35. (if ur using the script i had the same problem with, i dropped my helo down to 35 and speed normal, this sorted it)
