Searchlight on Vehicles

HI there, Im currently making a Samaritan and need to know if it is posible to have the searchlight on the commanders cupola rotate when the cupola rotates?

Also is it possible to have the light come on when the main headlights are off?  Say a option only for the commander to switch the searchlight on.

AFAIK it's not possible. a light cone will only move with the hull, never with the turret, even if the light(cone) is part of the otochlaven selection. i remember someone having tried it without success. the same should apply for the hatch selection which again is part of the otochlaven selection.

i think the game engine simply cannot handle it. remember that the light cone of the standard static m2 does not rotate with the gun, too.

a secondary turret script would solve that but that seems far away; maybe ArmA will solve it, maybe we have to wait until thegameformallyknownasofp2 :/

Doh..... ok thanks very much for your reply.  Guess i can either make the cuploa static with the light working or just have the light with a out of order sign on it :(

wouldn't it be a (rather crappy i admit) solution to make a cover for the searchlight?

I don't know if this is possible for I have never made an addon, but could you make a seperate and very small vehicle INSIDE the turret and just setdir the dummy vehicle so it's light shines wherever the turret is facing?

You could, but you can't set the pitch or the bank of an object...

Although, you could 'fix' this by having a script checking the bank and pitch of the vehicle (this is possible) and then animate the light object accordingly...
The light object would of course have rotation anims defined...

But I think you can have only one of those rotation anims per model??
That would then limit things to either banking or pitching...
