Firworks Help?
« on: 13 Sep 2005, 05:24:33 »
I'm in process of making a fourth of July missoin. I need some fireworks scripting. Now I dont know if this kind of script is out there in OFPEC. But here it goes

===============
SCRIPT NEEDED??
===============

I would like somebody to make me a fireworks script. What I want is a 10-15min firework show. Preferably 15mins long. Just like any real fireworks show. Now lets talk about the hieight of the fireworks when they explode, colors, randomness, etc....

TIP: This is not really a mission, if it were a mission, it would  be a fun mission.

HEIGHT:
What I would like is for the fire works to be high in the air just like normal ones would. Now, for the launch site for the fireworks to be set off, I have a great location. It's on the island of Nogova, the GRID location is "Fe37". That is the little island where I think would be an ideal spot to be shot off from.

Now about the height of the fireworks I would like them to be atleast 100-150 feet in the air, or what ever would look good to the player, but they need to be high. I've seen fireworks scripts that just them shoot off the ground a few meters. That is not what I want for this mission.  Moving on......

EXPLOSION TYPES:
This will be interesting. I would want the person making the script to have random explosions. Meaning blowing up in the sky in all different spots. With big explosions and small ones.

   Maybe some cool design ones if you can create them. I also want them to have different colors, red, green, blue, yellow, etc..Colors mixed. Also, the timing between the fireworks from one explosion to another should be random too. To make it more cool an effective. Dont just have a 2 second time delay or something like that. Make them spread out but not too far apart to make them boring to people.

   You may have explosions right next to eachother, some in all the same sequence in a line, or a triangle display. Be creative. Remember you have some say in your scripting too about this, since your making it, but this is my lay out how i want it, if you really dont like it and you want to make your own fireworks script, please do, but i really need someone who will do this on their free time and make this script accurate and really good. Remember, once this mission is fully done and tested, I'm sure it will attract lots of people.

TIP: Remember this mission is going to be an awesome fourth of July fun mission when it is released. To get the players away from the plain old war missions.

I think that pretty much covers the fireworks and how I want them. If you can think of anything that will make them more effective. please post all threads here. Thank you for your time, and please email me from my profile, on OFPEC. It is listed there if you are intersted.  Happy Editing...

I remember I mentioned a fireworks addon in your other 4th of July thread. It was very small (100k give/take) and was triggered by a script. There are only two problems I can see:

1. I have NO idea where you'll find it

2. It's in German. If you speak German, then it isn't a problem, but I don't. I got it to work, but I had to translate a couple things in the script. You don't really need to know what it means, just how to type it and match it up.

Now, the rocket explodes at the same altitude with the same kind of explosion, but it has random colors. Then there's also some land based ones like a volcano type of firework. ;)

A google search might help.

NightJay0044, as far as I can see penguinman has answered your question perfectly.    You should thank him.

If the script he suggested isn't what you're looking for, you should explain why.    At present you simply appear to be asking a question that has already been answered.

Also, OFP is OFP:  scripts can't be "in German".   Even if the instructions are in German, you will probably be able to figure it out.  If not, post specific questions here and I'm sure somebody will help you.

This thread is to all intents and purposes the same as the "4th July" thread which I have locked.    Be careful NightJay0044, you are skating on VERY thin ice.
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

Hi Macguba/penguinman, the link you provided for me on ofp.info

I downloaded it. Also it doesn't specify a map which it it located. It's a .pbo file (mission file). Also I unpbo'd it and it doesn't have an extention on it like , .into, .Eden, .Malden.

Also I put my on extention on there, and I try to play it and it says it's a read file only, (warning). So as of now it doesn't work. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, I dont know. Thanks..

.pbo files are also used for addons, and thats exactly what that is, put it in your addons folder and then open the editor and place them for yourself, and see what happens
