Aircraft taking off..
« on: 04 Sep 2005, 10:46:16 »
Hello, I'm having some trouble making my planes behave as they should, any help would be greatly appreciated.
The premis of my mission is of a civilian evacuation of nogova using the desert airstrip on the south-west side of the island. The civi's arive at the air base in cars/buses and get onto C130 (Hawk's C-130 v1.3). The player is nearby setting up airfield defenses and I thought it would add depth to actually be able to see the civi's leaving.
My origional problem was the planes taking off immediately rather than waiting for their passengers. I think I solved this by making the planes empty and having the civi's link up with a seperate pilot standing by the plane, then using a join & lead waypoint for the pilot and then boarding the plane. The current problem, is that they always want to make a right hand turn on takeoff and crash into a hill.
Can anyone sugget a fix? Thanks for any help.

if you have a new question, create a new thread rather than tacking your question onto the end of a similar thread - it keeps things simple in the long run, and anyone looking for the answer to this question won't be fooled by the other topic title ;)

my suggestion would be to give the plane a flyinheight command within the waypoints. that should get the plane high enough above the mountainside to prevent the unwanted 'meeting'.
