Drop[] question...
« on: 13 Jun 2005, 23:38:32 »
So I've read Vektorboson's tute and played around with the drop command pretty extensively, but one thing I would like explained in more depth is the SpaceObject thing to create p3d particles...

Do you just use the class name of the object you want to create (like with camcreate), or is there another name you need?

Also, is there a comrehensive list of all the possible Billboard sprite particles?  I just found out about a couple I had never heard of (in Czech of course) the other day, and I'm sure there are lots more.

Thx,

-Grendel

The only 'Types' I have ever seen are 'Billboard' and 'SpaceObject'.

The Shapename is I think the file name without the extension.

For instance:

cl_basic.p3d
cl_fire.p3d
cl_fireD.p3d
cl_water.p3d

I imagine you could use lots of different p3d files.

Experiment.

Thanks Planck,

And experiment I will...

This whole .p3d thing confuses me a bit though, and I was trying to see how I could find out what the other possible effects were or how to find them...

The only 2D ones I have ever seen so far are:

cl_basic.p3d
cl_fire.p3d
cl_fireD.p3d
cl_water.p3d
obrysove_svetlo.p3d
koulesvetlo.p3d

I have heard of one that features lighting as well but the individual did not know the name of it.

I was just hoping someone could help me out a bit while I'm at 'work' so that when I do get back to my OFP PC, I can hit the ground running.

Yo Grendel,

Search for Dialog Drop from  seedhe in the Editor depot.

With that U can change all the parameters in the drop command and U will see what changes in the world when the drop is executed.

Brilliant tool!

You can drop[] everything...
Any .p3d file will do...

The bad thing is that many models you drop[] have white boxes around it...

Also, there are two types of particles everybody seems to miss when listing those cl_xxx stuff...
Those are halflight and missilesmoke...
