flags
« on: 04 Apr 2005, 08:07:39 »
i know the usa and rus flags, are there others?
i need them for a mission i hav almost finished, except that the rus and usa and res basses all look the same, and i have flagged them as much as possible, except for the res base.
i would like to try to acheive this purpose without addons, using the existing textures in ofp (if there are any others)

thanks,
MPME

You can always include your own flag in your mission file. It just has to be 2^n by 2^y pixels (256x126, 512x256, etc), and it has to be .jpg, .paa or .pac. Plop the picture in your main mission folder, call it "myflag.jpg" (or whatever), and write this in the flagpole's init field:

this setflagtexture "myflag.jpg"

There are also a ton of flags in the official flags.pbo addon, although I'm not sure what they all are. I think there is a list of them somewhere.... or else grab a depbo program, and open up the addon yourself.

As GB has pointed out the Flags.pbo in your Addons folder contains a lot of flags..........172 in fact.

Think of a country, and its flag is probably in there.

this setflagtexture "\flags\Tajikistan.jpg"

This will give you the flag of Tajikistan.   ;D

Check this out.

How can I place customized flags on flagpoles in my missions?
As of OFP version 1.30, the previously available official Flag Pack is now contained in file FLAGS.PBO in OFP's ADDONS subdirectory.

So whether you want to use one of the country flag JPG files packed into the FLAGS.PBO file or whether you've got a customized version of the Jolly Roger you want to hoist (actually, there's one included in the FLAGS.PBO file, named PIRATES.JPG), here are the step-by-step instructions to implement displaying flags in your missions:

Flags must be non-progressive (zero progressive passes) 24-bit color 128x256 pixel flag JPG images, like this NATO flag, for example:

Customized flag's JPG files must be placed into the directory where your other mission files are located. If you're using a country flag from OFP's FLAGS.PBO file, OFP will automatically locate it in OFP's ADDONS directory.
In the mission, define the flag for a given flagpole with one of the following statement:
For flags from the FLAGS.PBO file, specify:

unit_name SetFlagTexture "\Flags\flag_name.jpg"
For flags from a customized flag image file, specify:

unit_name SetFlagTexture "\flag_name.jpg"
(NOTES: Change "unit_name" in the above examples to the name of the flag bearing object to be modified. Change "flag_name.jpg" in the above examples to the actual country or customized flag JPG image file name you want used for this flagpole).
