File Types
« on: 17 Feb 2005, 02:13:23 »
Alright i know i should put this in the other post but i decided not to because this would be quick, and you guys might get confused on what i was saying towards this.

I am having trouble with having the units to say what i want them to say.  I have everything perferct compared to some of the Res information i decoded.  The disrciption.ext file is correct.  The stringtable.csv is correct.  The camera script is correct with real coordinates, [x,y,z] but the use of putting a marker where i want it and taking it from the mission.sqm file.

The thing is the sound won't play.  The *.lip file works, and the stringtable works with the text but no voice.

I looked in on some folders and i was wondering what was the file that is in the sound file in allmost all the sound folders in Res.  (didn't check all of them)

sound\vsscer.scc

also it is in the mission folder too.

how can i view that... how can i create it... but first what is it?

also where could i find information about *.paa files.  i found that in a Res folder too... but i don't see how it is used.

Please tell me the information if you know it well or guide me to it.

Please and Thank You.

I don't think you need to worry about .scc files at all......forget about them.

However, I can tell you that .paa and also .pac files are texture files.

I know a little about a lot, and a lot about a little.

Check your volumes.

There is a BIS prog called texview or something, which helps with .paa files.
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

I guess i'll look at the *.paa / *.pac files somewhere in the BI site.
Thanks for telling me at least part of the name.

But with the voices... could it be the volume of the music.
Default is .5 of what i know.  So i usually put it down to .2 or even off when i want a conversation to start.

But still nothing.

Is there a command for voice/sound volume... if so i don't see it.

***

The weird thing is... like i said in the other post that was very long.
When i use a trigger to play the voice it works.

Anonymous***:  filename
Voice***:  filename
Condition***:  true
Axis a & b***:  0
Activation***:  none ... etc.

Then the sound works.

Then when i put this in the on activation:
username say "filename"

it plays double.  so then i put the anonymous to none and all other to none,  but keep condition true... etc.  then it works.

then when i delete the trigger, and use it in the script

username say "filename"

it works... then after awhile... like the next day i come back from school i open OFP and open that mission and play it... i doesn't play the sound... but the trigger thing still works.

hmmm

i'll still try to look at it myself more... i know i have the right type of wav file that i used before i converted to the ogg then the lip.

Everything Else Works But . . .

I have posted a topic in the General Section, and i just notice that there is a Sound & Cutscreen section in OFPEC.

Here it is::

Quote
What i am trying to say is... the stringtable.csv works, the description.ext is correct, my camera scripting ability has increased and looks fine and smooth, the terms and coordinates are fine within' it.  Well everything is fine except that i can't hear the sound fule (ex: Anp01.ogg - adam say "Anp01")  I can see the text and even see the lips move to the voice from the *.lip file.  Yes i converted the *.ogg file to *.lip after i created the *.wav file with the correct saving "save as" options.

For example:

 . . .
_camera ... blah blah blah
@camera ... etc. whatever

;adam says file Anp01.ogg
adam say "Anp01"

_camera ... blah blah blah

IT DOESN'T WORK

But i know it works, cuz i made a trigger and it does play it if i mess with the options in the trigger... then after i try the trigger i delete then use it within the script, and it works.

Then a day later... it doesn't work again.

Also what would the vsserver.scc file mean within the sound folders of campainss etc.  also in the man dir. of the mission folder.

please help
