« on: 15 Feb 2005, 19:50:51 »
To me the M16a1 & the M16a2 look the same but the M16 grenade launcher (I take that it is an a2) looks different the the M16a2 what is the diffrence?
I've already made the M16GL with up grades so can someone inlighten me?

The M16A1 (used in Vietnam) was made out of cast iron , therefore it was namend "The Matel Toy" from the Soldiers!
The main different is: The M16A2 has only single- and 3 burst shot
The M16A1 was susceptible for jam on the gun and used single and automatic fire! that was changed to save Ammo!

The M16A2 was modified so it isn't jam susceptible anymore and it was change to single an three burst shot , the barrel is heavier and has a muzzlebreak and an shelldeflector. The Magazine was changed too , to use the Nato 5.56x45mm (.223) Ammo.

M203 40mm Grenadelauncher: You can demount the front sides of the M16A2 and there you can mount the M203 GL

You see , it is one and the same M16 , you can only mount and GL on every M16A2 ;)

Hope thats enough

If you find    spelling mistake , keep them ;)

(i am german i have bad english ;) )

Bit late now, but about the attaching a 203 GL to an M16.  :)
A M16/203 Grenade launcher has a different stock from a normal M16.

Quote from Chris Ryans 'the one that got away'
Quote
In that case, I decided, I wasn't going to carry the grenade launching part of my weapon across the border, because it made the whole thing so heavy. The launcher, or lower barrel, is easily detached, and without it the rifle becomes considerably lighter and a joy to handle. But in that mode it needs a replacement stock, since the main stock comes away with the lower barrel.

I have no idea wheither it looks any different, but theres a not too useful fact  ;)
