Here for your delectation, are some exciting "action" pictures "taken" during the heroic
delaying action fought at Vernon on the island of Everon by the 1st Battalion of the Gordon
Highlanders [an old and extremely distinguished Scottish Infantry regiment], during the
Soviet invasion of 1985 [BTW: the US were NOT the "only NATO  presence on the island]

The pictures are meant also to showcase the "Scottish Infantry, 1980's" troop pack I have
been kinda working on. An image of one of the first attempts is available to view here.
Basically a standard BIS man with new headdress and weapons, with more authentic webbing
equipment added.

I got fed up waiting for someone to make 1980's period Scottish Infantry
(or any British Infantry) for OFP [I wasn't aware until recently of the "Malvinas"
mod], and eventually gave up waiting and tried to make them myself. These
pics show them off nicely, even though I say so myself. Now that I've been
trying this for a while I take my hat off to the Project UKF and Falklands
Mod guys (and all the other addon makers). This 3D modelling stuff in the Oxygen
tool is awkward, puzzling and frustrating as hell. But it was worth it to finally
see the little guys looking half decent in game. Of course, I can't claim the
skill or  wizardry of the real addon artists, but I'm pleased with my little
guys so far.  I know there are still problems; the DPM camo clothing is supposed
to be '66 pattern but it comes out too light in the game. I also hate the way
the 3d models distort all your carefully created texture images. Bah! The weapons
are...ahem..."borrowed" from various other addon packs for now, but have had
their configs tweaked for more "realistic" sound, power and operation.

The images are on "photobucket" and my attempt at creating a web page you could
link to never worked out properly. Instead here's the photo captions and links to
the individual pics (none are more than 250Kb). Enjoy the piccys!

Operation Caberfeidh,  Friday 10th May 1985

After a gruelling speed march across the barren hills of Southern Everon the men of the
1st Bn, Gordon Highlanders prepare to advance to contact Soviet Air assault forces threatening
the safe retreat of the US forces.

Stubborn pockets of Soviet paratroopers held out resolutely in the buildings and gardens of
Vernon necessitating bitter street battles before the objective was secured. This dynamic

Not bad :)
The uniforms seem a little too clean, that's the biggest problem I can see. But apart from that they're good
Where are those weapons from btw? (What addon, I mean) I have them, but no idea where I got the from..

The GPMG is from "Lowlands Warrior", the Sterling SMG is from the
"Conflicto Malvinas" mod, and all the rest (66mm Law, 84mm
Charlie G and SLR) are the standard BIS Resistance models.

I have done some more work on the British Infantry troops. In
accordance with criticism received in this thread I have replaced
the clothing textures with something that better represents the
British battledress of the period under study (ie "1975-1985").
I have also "dirtied" the material a bit in appropriate places
to try to add some "realism". I was pleased to find that the
pattern and colours did not need any "adjustment" to make
them effective in OFP terrain.
The little guys also now have more correct equipment (the full 1958 pattern fighting order, including the special "rubberized" bag for the respirator and NBC kit - on the right hip) and new improved rifles with optical sights.
They now accurately and correctly portray British infantrymen
in the (temperate) fighting order of the period. I know there
are still many things that need to be improved about them but
I am still totally astonished that I managed to get them looking
even as decent as this. I'm now thinking up some interesting
missions for them. I may even post these on OFPEC, if they're
any good, and include the troops in the download, (I would
never have the balls to "release" them as an "official" addon).

Two views of a rifleman.

View of the rifle section's GPMG gunner (GPMG from "Lowland
Warrior"). The foliage garnishing quite effectively conceals the
soldier's shape when in a firing position (against human
opponents, anyway - OFP AI of course has X-ray vision).
