Rendered window for editing
« on: 07 Feb 2005, 04:21:38 »
Is there a utility that has one of these?

Like, a side window that shows you what mission you're editing looks like as you add units and buildings etc all in real time. Sort of like unrealed, y'know?

If there is one, please tell me, otherwise, would it be a good idea? (I'm not volunteering to make it though :)). Thanks

Maybe use it conjuction with oxygen or something. :-\
Think I'm totally wrong though. :P

Only problem is you can't edit placement/units/buildings/items while a mission is running without restarting it. The only workaround is the ECP editor, but with spectator I only think you can look at things/units and add bits of script. :-\

Well that sounds good... I generally don't use ecp when I'm editing, and i havent checked out the spectator cam. If you can look at things/units sort of instantaneously, like a snapshot (but obviously not real-time rendering) then that suits my purposes just fine. I'm really just after a utility that lets me check placement of fences, buldings, tents and other such nonsense without having to constantly test the mission. I have ecp, so do you know how i access the spectator? Thanks!  :)

Using ECP's debug console you can dynamically create vehicles and units.

You can also type in commands to make units do things.

You should try it out, I use it a lot to test things out.

For instance......you are on the map to watch how something is happening and to look for problems.......you have a jeep so you can follow the action.......however you prang your jeep and are stuck......no problem......create a new jeep and away you go.

I know a little about a lot, and a lot about a little.
