description.ext vol and pitch

What is the maximum value for the volume and pitch parameter for this line, or what number is considered max and min?

sound[] = {"shutup.ogg", db+100, 1.0};

I believe I read somewhere that the max volume is +-40 db. Obviously you can put the number higher than that without any error, but does it really seem to increase the volume? From my experience, not really. I don't know if there is a limit on the pitch setting, but changing the pitch really distorts the sound after like 1.5, so I don't think one would need to go past, say 2.0 in most cases.

The volume doesn't seem to affect the loudness of the sound. It affects the distance from wich the sound can be heard. I made some primitive research on this and got the same results on two different sound cards (both was by Audigy though).

For pitch I'd say min 0.8 max: 1.2 unless you ant a really squeaky or a really low sound.

"Volume" certainly does not affect volume, in my experience, though it may affect distance as nominesine says.   From my limited experience I recommend dealing with volume before the file is inserted into OFP.
