Enemy will not fire at night on own vehicle?

Scenario:

In Vidlakov on Nogova.  If I am East and have entered any empty West Vehicle, West will not fire at me if it is nighttime, but will fire if it is daytime. It does not matter if I give them NVGoggles nor whether they have been set to RED and COMBAT, if it is night time they will almost never open fire. I can make road kill of them all and they will not fire a single shot.

Does anyone know why this is or how it can be fixed.  I do not want to have to make this a daytime mission.

A simple way to enhance AI:

C: distance player leader eastGroup <25
A: player reveal leaderEastGroup (or leaderEastGroup reveal player, I forgot wich way it goes)

You could also make a script that checks if they know about the vehicle you're in and if they do, then reveal the occupants of the vehicle to them.

There are no dead crewmen. The vehicle is empty before I get in.

The town is fully lit.  Did BIS make the ai behave this way intentionally( i.e. in the dark you would not be able to see who is driving) or is it a screwup?

It sounds like a "feature".   ;D

When you're making a mission in this game you regularly hit the buffers like this.    The trick is to roll sideways:  think laterally.    Put all your assumptions about how this mission is going to turn out to one side for a moment, and create a totally open mind.

There are lots of ways of bashing this one on the head:   for example reveal commands followed by doTarget and doFire.

Or you can say, hey, so it seems these guys are gonna get away with stealing the wagon.    Well, good luck to them.    What does that mean for the mission?   How do I re-create the next part to take account of this?    

Maybe there is a roadblock - I mean with the road genuinely blocked - round the corner.     Or perhaps the road is mined.    Or maybe it doesn't really matter that they have wheels because they're gonna have to get out and walk sooner or later.     Or maybe the wagon breaks down.    OR maybe you don't really need the vehicle there in the first place.    Or maybe it could be much better guarded.   Or - well you get the picture.
