Chance of Presence?

I have a question about the cance of presence.  Does it work in preview mode when you are creating the mission?  I gave the leader of a group of infantry a 25% chance of being there but I previewed the mission approximately 20 times and the squad was always there.  I then set it to 0% and they are always still there.  Am I doing something wrong?  Or does this just not work when doing a preview?

Yes

Set the leader with a particular probability of presence.  Call him Grp1Leader.  Then for each of the other units in the group you need to set the condition of presence as: alive Grp1Leader

If you don't do that last step then the other guys will aways be there.

That will give you a whole group that may or may not be there.  You could also give each unit a probability of presence and so get groups of varying size.

Prob of presence affects only that unit.     The other group members are appearing each time and electing a new group leader if necessary.     Follow THobson's advice.
