Campaign troubles
« on: 06 Dec 2004, 19:27:51 »
This is to anyone who has made a campaign or knows how to make one.  ;)

I've made quite afew decend single player missions that have been put on a web site, but I though i'd try making a campaign. I have managed to link the missions together using the 'descripton.ext' file, but when I get to the last step, testing it, this happens.

I click on campaigns, find my campaign, and this message comes up:

No entry 'campaigns\mycampaign.abel\description.ext.Campaign'.

Any suggestions of what i'm doing wrong?  ???

I don't know what's wrong, never having messed with campaigns.    But in moments like this I always look at some BIS stuff:  when you have a truly working example in front of you it's often easy to see what you are doing wrong.

The error message is clear:  the game cannot find the file mentioned.   Either you do not have a file of that name or it is in the wrong place.
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

Thats what I though at first, so I re-named the file, and the message just came up again. It says:

No entry 'campaigns\mycampaign.abel\description.ext.Campaign'.

I have located the folder, and its definatly in there, under the correct name.  :-\

I think it is trying to tell you that there is a fault in the description.ext file.

An incomplete or badly written Campaign line

No entry 'campaigns\mycampaign.abel\description.ext.Campaign'.

Try posting your description.ext

Check this bit:

Code: [Select]
class thecampaign
    {
        name = "Whole Campaign";
        cutscene = ;
        Training = 1;
        end1 = ;
        end2 = ;
        end3 = ;
        end4 = ;
        end5 = ;
        end6 = ;
        lost = ;

The line:

Training = 1;

should maybe be:

firstMission = Training;

Comparing to the original 1985 Campaign description.ext here.

All I could see so far, will look again tomorrow with fresh eyes.

Not being an expert on Campaigns, I am merely comparing structure with the official campaign description.ext file.

Hold on a min.......I have a sneaking suspicion that your file is called description.ext.Campaign.ext.

If this is true......rename it to description.ext

It was called 'description.ext' at first, but then at the end of the message it said:

description.ext.Campaign

So I tried changing the name. I must of forgot to change it back  :-[

Where do I put the extra '};'? I can't find anywhere with description.ext in it except the title  :-\

I'll try that again though, but can you tell me where exactly?  ???
