How to switch sides
« on: 04 Dec 2004, 03:36:18 »
Hello,

I am working on a mission where at first resistance is
Nato friendly and I'd like them to become enemy and
join the East side in the middle of the game, any
idea on how to do that?

I tried to:
resistanceWest=0.000000;
resistanceEast=1.000000;

but it didn't help.

I'd appreciate, any ideas,

thanks,

Well you can get a unit to be on a different side to its default at the begining by putting it under the command of a different side's officer but having deleteVehicle this in the officer's initilisaion field.

Perhaps you could get the various groups res to join east officers then delete the officers. I don't however know if this would work when not right at the start.  :-\

Just an idea

does it have to be in one mission that the resistance change sides
i mean that is a bit unrealistic

i think you should set resistance friendly to all and just give them officers from east or west or something like that

Sadly, making up commands doesn't work, you can only use the ones in the comref.  ;D

You can't change the opinion of the Restance in the middle of a game.    You can fake it by using setCaptive commands, the trick C0LDSt33L mentioned, or deleting units and replacing them with others when the player isn't looking.   Alternatively make a mini-campaign, which looks like one mission but is in fact two, with the Resistance on different settings in each.
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

You can put them under 'nobody' as captives and then switching them to nomal.
