I'm not sure if this is what you want, but you could just set GUARD waypoints around the base, and then put a CYCLE waypoint at the end of it.

Ok, thanks!

Few more questions. How can I set unit behave limited speed and safe behaviour when he guarding the base, but also aware behaviour if he locate an enemy soldier etc.     ;)

shadow99:  I don't think that will work.  A guard waypoint is never completed so the unit will go the first one and then not progress to the others.

IpeXeuS:  It depends what you mean by guard.  Do want them to be patrolling (ie walking round the base)?  Or do you just want them in the base ready to run out and attack any nearby enemy.  For the second just use a single Guard waypoint.  For the first you need a set of Move waypoints around the base with the last waypoint being a Cycle waypoint that you put next to the first Move waypoint.  This will cause the unit to move round the base for ever.

To deal with your second point:

In the first Move waypoint set the speed limited and behaviour safe.  Create a Guard waypoint immediately after the Cycle waypoint that is speed - normal behaviour - combat (or whatever you want).  Now create a trigger that fires when the enemy is detected.  Make this a 'Switch' type trigger and then synchronise it with the 'Cycle ‘waypoint of the your patrolling unit.  A Switch trigger forces a unit to go immediately to the waypoint immediately after the one to which it is synchronised.

Try it.  It is a lot simpler than it seems when written down

Thanks for the tip!

I ment, that how can I config unit to patrol around the base (guarding the base). And you give me pretty good answer, had to try it when I get home. But I inform you if it works or if it doesn't. Hope it works!

Ps. Next questions coming soon, so stay tuned!

Yeah probably you're right THobson. I guess only one guard waypoint is required with a cycle waypoint after it.

One thing I've noticed though, is that if you put one seek and destroy waypoint down, and then a cycle waypoint after it, the group/unit will keep S&Ding until the cycle is broken.

If you put four S&D waypoints down, the group/unit will do all four, and then keep repeating the last one. What if the group/unit used guard waypoints the same way?

Wrong.

A guard waypoint is never completed

There is no point in having any waypoints after a guard waypoint, unless you are using triggers as well.    A unit on a guard waypoint will remain on that waypoint until a trigger sends them to a new waypoint, or the mission ends, or the world ends, whichever occurs first.

So a guard works like a cycle?

A guard WP never ends.

For the Q: If you want it clearer, read my tute about switch triggers.

Guard does not work anything like cycle.

That's it.   Completo.   Once a group hits a guard waypoint it stays on that guard waypoint until you switch trigger it into something else.
