Captives trigger guards?

I have a group of West infantry and a group of East infantry at the same location.  All of them are set captives - I am trying to simluate a check-point during an armed truce.    All is fine, they look the part.  The problem is that all the units on guard elsewhere on the map make a bee-line for them.

It seems that if one side sees a captive belonging to the other side then guard units react as if they are not captive.  I definitely do not want this.   At some stage I also want to be able to remove the captive status of the units at the check-point so that they enter the conflict.

Any ideas?

Am I right about captives triggering guards?

Put the guard groups on a different waypoint and switch them into guard at the appropriate moment?

Or, do some trick with grouping everybody at the checkpoint under a Resistance leader with prob 0.   And/or deleteVehicle them and replace with normal units when required.

I am afraid that won't work here.  This is going to be a three way fight.  The player is resistance - friendly to nobody.  I want the east and west guard units to go after Resistance at all times in the game, but I don't want east or west to go after each other until much later.    East and West convoys alternately visit the check-point (it is really a trading post) so I can't have resistance units there either.

I think I will just have to make sure I don't have east and west at the check-point at the same time.  A pity, it looked really good.
