I'm very new to the whole map making world and i've only had the game for 2 months. My question is was is the difference between the script and the description.EXT file?   Do we need both? when I made maps for medal of Honor, I needed only 1. thanks guys

Read my tutorial macguba's guide to mission editing for beginners (he wrote immodestly) which was written specifically for people like you and covers this very point.    It's in the Editors Depot (link at the top of this page) - Tutorials - Getting Started.    

The short answer is yes:  to make a decent mission you need several files of which description.ext is just one.

I just wanted to point out that map/mission making in Medal of Honor is very, very different from map/mission making in Operation Flashpoint...
