changing units in editor

I've noticed that you can remove an armed vehicle's weapons with the removeallweapons command and then add any vehicle weapon you want with the addweapon "x" command. You can even add a cannon to a soldier!!! Its fun adding a 125mm cannon to an m2mg  ;D . And addon free! The question is how do you change a certain unit's name without making an addon?  ???

What do you mean, change its name?   What are you trying to do?

And yeah, that's a nice little feature.   I made myself a play mission once with an invincibility script, a 30mm cannon with infinite ammo, and as many bad guys as I could be bothered to place.   ;D
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

Lets say you approach an m2a2 and you want to get in. I dont want the action to sound like "get in m2a2 as gunner" but "get in m3a3 (for example) as gunner".

Unit names are defined in the config file - AFAIK you can't crack open the default BIS units and change their names, but you can do this to unofficial addons.
