Campaign Beginning?
« on: 19 Aug 2004, 23:19:30 »
Ok, I've searched for the answer to this and read the tutorials, but it's still not clear to me.

Do campaigns start with just an intro, then proceed to the 1st mission's intro and mission, etc.?

If so, would I just create an intro with a name just like a mission, but never even touch the "mission" part?

What I'm planning is kind of elaborate, so I don't want to start it if I'm gonna do it wrong and have to redo it.

No.

I don't know how it works, but I do know that you can fiddle about with the order because BIS did it in CWC.   There is one place where there are two routes, and throughout the early stages you get a cutscene with Col Blake if you've done badly enough and in fact you can get a mission failed - even though you passed it - because you haven't done well enough.

Each mission in a campaign can, as far as I know, have any combination of Intro, Mission and Outro.    If you need a mission in a mission, you just have a blackout and a trigger which ends the mission as soon as it starts.

Cool, I think I'm just gonna make an intro, and have the mission end immediately.

But then, in the description.ext, when you choose whether to show the brieing or not, would it run smoothly to the next mission at the end of the intro if I chose no briefing?

Nevermind, I figured something out myself for once  :P.

To make an intro without a mission, simply only make the intro  ;D.  Don't even touch the "Mission" section.  I was fumbling around with description.ext at first, then I tried it without it, and it worked fine.

By the way, is there a way to remove that "Wait a Moment" text?  I want a black screen 8).

Yes, it's handled in description.ext.     See the tutes or the example in the Tutorial Mission.
