Huray for Delta force black hawk down ;)
I recognise the soudns from the game :P
They're in the PFF files (Theres programs to open 'em)

But if you've converted the sounds to ogg, thats pretty usefull :)
Maybe you could make up a .ext file, and upload it to the editors depot? :)

Wonder what other games have convertable sound files :)

All of the Unreal Tournament games do, I have the collections, so does GTA Vice City, I also know quite a few that come with the music already on the discs, such as Total Annhiliation and Ghost Recon

I doubt ofpec wants to host copyrighted material from a competing product in these
times of mindless lawsuits. :)

That dont mean they can distribute copyrighted material without the copyright owner's permission.

Well legally your in the wrong, but, if you keep it quiet, i doubt anyone is going to report to the copyright owner after playing your mission (they arent that bad are they?  ;) ) and even then, i would expect they have bigger cases to pursue.

I think your also legally allowed to have a 30 second sample from a song, as long as its not the complete thing  :) And presumably your not making a profit from it.

What would the law say if i made the mission then only distributed it within a few people through msn or something rather than putting it on a website?

That would be illegal too, since you are not allowed to disassemble (in any way) the product (the game).
And the entire game is probably regarded, legally, as one entity, if you extract anything from this entity, such as a file, you are smoked. But of course they wouldnt go after you, mostly because they would never find out, and if they did, you are no threat to them, their product, marketing, bla bla, in any way.

OFPEC on the other hand is one of the most popular OFP communities (if you may), which makes it high profile, and hence an easy target.

Im not telling you not to use resources from other games to enhance your mission/addon/whatever.
Everyone does.

But it would be foolish by an organisation such as OFPEC to openly distribute such resources.

But enough with this legal crap already :)

I'm not worried about the Game soundtracks, its using music that worries me, can they still sue even if i have bought the original cd?

To qualm all of ur fears about all copyrighted materials:

ur allowed 2 use copyrighted material as long as you are not using the material in a profitable way. This means we cant sell the missions for money as a profit >:( ;D

So have no fears. And everyone should know this if your read the License Agreemant for OFP. :P

HAVE YOU?  ;)
