How to improve group AI?
« on: 08 Jun 2004, 21:19:40 »
I was wondering if anyone could suggest a way of improving the AI for the group you are in control of. For example, if I am the leader of a 4 man Delta squad. How could I make the rest of my unit stay closer to me rather than keeping a distance of  like 5 or more feet all the time?

It seems like they just don't have a mind of there own and get killed way to easy. I would like to see a way where they could all infiltrate a building from different entrances and attack an enemy in a hostage situation.

Also can you make the AI units cover each other and yourself?

This kind of thing has been discussed before in great detail, though I don't know how much has actually come of it.    Check the Ed Depot scripts indeed, and also have a really good hunt around the forum, going back quite a while if needs be.     Search on things like "enhanced AI".

AI units cover each other and you automatically - I suspect setbehaviour combat works best but don't quote me.   It doesn't work very well in enclosed spaces like villages.

OFP is a great game, but it has strengths and weaknesses.   Buildings are one of the weaknesses, which makes it an attractive area to try and improve but also one where improvement is most difficult.
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play
