Army Men Mod
« on: 25 May 2004, 23:28:35 »
I am very inexperienced with editing tools. I am making a mod which involves plastic army men fighting each other in giant sandbox. The problem is, I need a map to start out on. If anyone has spare time, please donate it to making a blank square 10,000 km by 10,000 km island with rolling hills and valleys in a desert texture. Lets just say editing is'nt my "strengh". If anyone would like to do this task, please send it to blackhawkdown132@aol.com. I will make sure you are rewarded with a beta of the mod. Feel free to place your name on the map.

I'm no island maker, but I'm pretty sure you can't make islands in OFP that are 10,000 km long :P

But seriously, check out some of the user-made islands out there. I think there is one called "A2 island" which is nothing but a big desert island. Maybe that would work well.

Are you sure you didn't mean 10k? Some of us get confused by international variances in the usage of periods (.) and commas (,) for declination and notation.

Current OFP tested limit is 102km. If I ran the numbers right, *I think* it could handle up to 204km, but I haven't gotten it there yet.

Find  DEM data for an area of the earth that you want to make your map look like and I can make a map with no objects out of that in about 20 minutes..  ;)

I just dont have the time to search for DEM data ..  :P

West leach spring is probably pretty good, or at least enough to give you some good ideas.

Try adding some more rocks, roughen the edges a little and make the hills steeper. However, this is a beta, a damn good one at that.
