Intro's into a Video format
« on: 22 May 2004, 18:03:32 »
Hi all,

Myself and a few other members of our squad have made some very cool intro's to missions (we make all our own missions) and I was wondering if there is a way to convert the .sqm or .pbo into an .avi or some other video format??? The reason: we would like to put them up on our site for prospective members to view without downloading all of the addons we use plus anyone else that may be interested. I realise that there may be some sort of special programme to use or that we have to create them in an entirely different way. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We give credit where credit is due to the amazing scripters out there and creators of the addons - as it is just plain good manners. Thanks...

Fraps....

Nice little program (V1.9D is free) that allows you to record what ever is on screen. I'll see if I can find a link.

Yeah, that would work but theres no sound :(
If you are gonna do a lot of OFP > AVI files, I'd suggest you all put money together and buy FRAP V2 (Only about $19..).. That does everything (Sound, any resolutions etc)

Fraps is the best cap program i have seen. I use it to do movies in wwiiol and yesterday when I started playing flashpoint again I couldnÂ't help capping some clips, and it works very nice. Some problems with fps due to low ram can be experienced thou.

Btw. I am new to this forum and site. ItÂ's an amazing resource. ;D

Oh. you can check out some of my wwiiol movies at http://130.235.57.53/svedala if you like.

Are there any other free ones ? fraps doesn't work for me either, it just keeps making these litle 2kb sized files.

Just wondering

Check the FAQ on the Fraps site. If you're getting 2kb files you're not doing it right. I got that problem when i first tried to use Fraps as well. It can be caused from a number of things but one thing might be that your resolution and colour depth might be too high. Fraps will only record in 640x480 using 16bit colour instead of 32bit.

yea, tried changing the resolution . . . can I change the colour depth in OpFlash ? Or do I have to do it on my comp or something.

PS: Does it record sound as well ? Someone told me it didn't

Yes and no:  FRAPS ver 1.9D mentioned above does not support sound (it's free, too much detiail for freeware).  However FRAPS 2 (you have to cough up some cash though) does dupport recording sound, but the file is much much bigger and the FPS rate goes way down (more lag).  Unless you have aevery OFP gamers' dream machine with 10GB of RAM and a 256MB video card you will have FPS problems.
(that is the only downside to FRAPS. I use it a lot, I'm making a whole OFP video story!)
