Irish Defence Forces
« on: 17 May 2004, 10:38:48 »
Hello,

I'm on a bit of a one man crusade to get the Irish defence forces represented in OFP.
To this end I have obtained permission to use models created by several gracious mods and addon makers for retexturing and minor conversion in order to produce a respectable Irish Defence forces addon pack.
The only thing required now is someone capable of doing that work...
There isnt much of an Irish OFP online community despite the fact that its quite widely played so I have to appeal for help more generally.

thanks
Imshi-Yallah

Would the recruitment depot not be for forming a mod team?

I heard that you've been granted use of the OPGWC models as a base.....i really dont like those models, they look like counterstrike or quake 3 addons (This is meant to be a Royal Marine  :-\ http://www.roughnecks.org/opgwc/news/news0423_3_2004.jpg)....use the BAS infantry kit or the  International Soldier Model instead and it would look much better, im sure.....plus the BAS inf kit has an easy texture process...... :)

It's under review, Pmachine is back in action so he's going to inspect the options.

From what I've heard, Imshi is now firing Styers for real, and won't be finishing this off. Anyone know what files were used? I've come across what was supposed to be an Irish Air Corps Cessna that has no texture at all to it, and a very basic Irish Army Ranger mod. The two Irish Ranger types were based on a Russian Officer and a Resistance Officer. Neither are the best, but they can be worked on. (I'm not sure about the Cessna though).

So, anything else? As an Irishman, I'd be very interested in seeing the whole lot done, men, trucks, choppers (Ireland may be getting Blackhawks in the near future, one with an IAC logo on it wouldn't be to off the mark.

Alright, here's the list of items the Irish Army mod could have:
-Styer (have basic model already, grenade launcher version would be desireable)
-GPMG (Browning I think, maybe an SAS mod may give a hand?)
-Bofors AA gun
-basic infantry (The Army Ranger mod isn't all that great, another one may be better. And Army Rangers are different to normal soldiers!)
-Nissan Jeeps (green)
-Bedford Lorries (green)
-MOWAG Piranha 6x6
-Timoney 4x4
-Panhard M3 APC 6x6
-AML-90 4x4
-AML-60 4x4
-SISU XA-180 6x6
-Scorpion
-Aerospatiale SA365Fi Dauphin II
-Aerospatiale SA316B Alouette III
-CASA CN235-100MP Persuader

and a few other items once in use

Personnel Weapons
Browning Pistol
Accuracy International
92 Sniper Rifle
FN Light Machine Gun
12.7mm Machine Gun

 Mortars/Howitzers
AM 50 120mm Heavy Mortar
84mm Anti-tank Gun
60mm Mortar
 25 Pounder Gun/Howitzer

 Heavy Guns
 L118 105mm light Gun

 Air Defence
40mm L60 AAA
40mm L70 AAA

 Anti-Tank
 Milan Anti-tank Guided Weapon

I'm not expecting all of that to be made, but it'd be nice..........

Might be worth doing some vehicles in UN colours and blue-helmet troops - I understand the Irish army has done a lot of peacekeeping deployments in the last few years.
