BAS helo fast roping onto ship

Heya,

Ive tried to use the BAS blackhawks to fast rope onto a ship (the LSD from Tales of War), and it almost works, except for one problem. Once the blackhawk hovers over the ship, it does deploy the fast ropes, but the problem is that it does not take in the hight of the ship, so the ropes stick out about 7 above the helicopter. If you then fast rope out of the helicopter, you'l start at the top of the rope, which is above the helicopter. And then you'll rope down onto the blades, and you can actually walk on the blades as well... ;D

Does anybody know how i can make the blackhawk hover a litle higher, so that it is high enough above the ship?

The first thing that jumped to my mind would use the flyInHeight command.

In the init field of your chopper type

I suggest messing with the height until you get it perfect.

Unfortunately no it won't work period.

I've tried flying the helo myself and regardless of the height it always does that in my experience. So it really limits the usefulness of that feature.


It does that on buildings too... so eh...

Somebody made a precise rappel script long time ago.
It allows you to drop people on roofs, ships, whatever...
It was perfect.
It requires Snypir supportpack and it Zayfod who wrote it.
I'm browsing the OFPEC forum, but I can't find it anymore, even with a search

what u'll have to do is actually edit the script inside the BAS addon that the helo's use when they fast rope...
u'll have to edit some of the calculations in the script to make the chopper fly a little bit higher...
BTW - make sure u get BAS's permission first
but an even better idea would be to email TJ from BAS about - cos if there's a script he can make it and he made all those scripts...

It requires Snypir supportpack for the rope & rappel animation

Actually, its very weird. With a bit of scripting was able to get troops to fast rope from a BAS blackhawk above a building, thats not problem. The BAS helo's actually work fairly good in urban terrain.

Ive tried the fly in hight thing, to no avail.
