Ding Ding Ding! Joining Server noise! HELP!

Is there anyway to turn off the little "Ding" --"Pinging" noise when people join a multiplayer server or a server message pops up. I get a huge headache with that noise, I was wondering if there was a pin pointed wss file in the Sounds.pbo that I could replace and reconvert the pbo with the wss sound files etc...

Im a noob when it comes to converting, so if you could, act as if I never played this game since November 2001 lmao!  :-X

To change a sound, you would need to get the "depbo" program from the ed depot and un-pbo your sounds.pbo (in the res folder). Then find which sound in there makes the "ding" sound, and replace it with a new sound (keeping the same name and file format). Then get the "make pbo" program, and make the folder back into a pbo. Make sure to backup your old sounds.pbo first.

The same sound is used by the hints, I believe. If I remember correctly, the old dynamic sound range replacement changed the hint sound to something quieter. You may wanna try using that, if you don't want to do it on your own. I think it is in the "tutorials" section of the ed depot; but do a search.

Converting a mp3 to wss?

Would I have to convert it to ogg then to wss?

Either convert it to ogg or to wav, then get the wss convertor tools in the ed depot, and use them to convert to wss. Use DBpoweramp to convert from mp3 to ogg or wav. Do a search on google
