How can I produce Grazing Fire?
« on: 01 Apr 2004, 03:17:56 »
Hey, Got another one for you guys. It's for another cutsceen. I'm trying to create the illusion of a heavy battle. I created a bunch of Ambient M16 sound triggers around by "cornered" squad. I would like them to fire their weapons as well. I've used the command
DUDE1 fire "M16"
However this produces the dude firing one shot into the air. Not the continuous grazing fire that would be much more realistic.
I even used the DoTarget command and placed a barrel or other object, even a GameLogic that I put some where in the distance, but with in visual range of Dude.
Still same results.
Any one have a quickie, or even not so quick, way to get a bunch of guys to lay continuous grazing fire at unspecified targets?

Thanks
Calamity

Hey,

Heres an idea:  Use invisible targets (these things are great and oh so versitile!).  You can find them in the BAS tonali/opfor pack, and the guys doing the German Bundeswehr Mod (MMW Mod[? or something]) has them too.

A pretty simple script that setpos's the invisible target(s) in a random arc in front of the AI units works pretty good.  If you need help with the scripting let me know and I'll modify the one I'm using to make the AI fire blindly at the suspected location of a sniper.

Great idea. I'll have to go find and download that pack. Whew, I'm creating a campaign and I'm already using about 10 to 15 addons. Check out my site if your curious about the addons I'm already going to be using. I've also written a little description of the intro.
