Curious Question
« on: 14 Mar 2004, 09:44:52 »
Hello. In the mission I am now working on, I want the group you are part of to rendezvouz with a Resistance Group on the American-occupied island of Malden.

That's what the briefing says, anyway. You get in a truck, and a leader takes you toward the area where the Resistance Group is, but you run into Ruskies along the way.

I want all the Ruskies to be dead before your group continues toward the Resistance Group.

I tried naming every enemy I wanted dead, and then, in the condition of a trigger box, I wrote:

this and not alive enemy1 and not alive enemy2 and not alive enemy3 and not alive enemy4 and not alive enemy5 and not alive enemy6 and not alive enemy7 and not alive enemy8

To my surprise, the computer didn't have an objection to this.

Okay, so I have step 1 complete. Now I need to know what to put in the "On activation" box to activate another Waypoint for the Sergeant of the group once they are all dead.

So, I guess my question is:

What do I write in the "On Activation" Box to make another Waypoint for an object?

Thank you!

I am not a Cade mode expert, but I believe that you only see the waypoints if you are group leader.     Since in this case you are not group leader, it doesn't matter.    Simply create a S&D waypoint just before the move one in at the destination and use setWPPos to move it to the correct place when the ambush occurs.     Sych it to the trigger you have already mentioned, which should be type switch, to switch your sergeant out of S&D and back into MOVE when all the enemy are dead.

Your method of detecting when all the enemy are dead is correct btw.   There are other ways of doing it, but my view is that if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Edit:  AFAIK waypoints are like energy:  they can't be created or destroyed.

Thanks, macguba. Being a n00b to all this, that's going to take a while for me to decipher (no, i'm not asking you to post again! Besides, I'd rather figure it out for myself, it's better that way).

I get the idea though. I'm going to have some fun with that "set waypoint" position stuff, I've needed a method for a while to get an AH1 to a site to pick up the player.

Thank you!
