BAS soflam laser des. question.
« on: 03 Dec 2003, 23:12:55 »
This is a question about the bas soflam and how to use it to mark a target-- I don't know if this question should go in the addons topic or the scripting topic, anyway...

I am using a script by snYpir that returns the location of the place where the 'laser' dot strikes the ground.

It only works with a standard ofp laser des and the 0h58 ld.

I have included bas_soflam in the array of acceptable lasers in the script.

I have given my unit the soflam and soflam 'ammo' manually thru the init field, and I have tried a bas LD Ranger unit, niether will return the location of the dot.

I can see the dot, but it doesn't work in the script.

The same goes for the MP/SP support pack, the bas soflam doesn't work for marking targets like the ofp ld does.

Does the bas soflam make the same "laser target" that the bis LD does? Do I need to use the bas 'west laser target' empty object in conjunction with soflam somehow?

Thanks !  ;D

HMMM...???

if you added the BAS_Soflam into the script and it still doesn't work, it might be a syntax issue...If you want, I can send you modified script that works fine with the Soflam in my missions.

It was awhile ago that I messed with that script, but if I remember correctly, I changed something in the laser detection trigger's set up for it to accept the Soflam, not the script itself...

Thx Grendel!  ;D

That would be great if you could send me that modified script.
I instant messaged my email to you a few minute ago.

I'm going right now to work around with the trigger.

Just wondering if you got my script and if it ended up working for you or not.

Any chance we can get an example mission posted that uses BAS SOFLAM? Or atleast the changes required to make the BAS SOFLAM work like the standard laser desig?

Thanks,

Black_Ops,

This topic is 2 years old, why dig it up?   ::)

A new topic would have been better.....maybe.

Simply because this topic was never formally ended. The solution was sent directly to an individual instead of the thread itself. I could have made a new thread but thought I would get flamed for not using what we have. This topic just needs the solution attached. Then there would be no reason to reply, anyone in the future could simply use the knowledge (which is what I tried to do; and found that the important knowledge is missing).

So I simply ask to complete this thread with the knowledge of using BAS SOFLAM in an example mission.

Sorry for trying to revieve, but I hope my point makes sense,

It does indeed make sense, but humans in general don't.

Most topics are never closed properly, a human failing, but quite a few are.

You could try IM'ing either of the people that used this topic, Grendel or FLBEE, to see if they can either send you the result or finish the topic off properly, but I wouldn't hold my breath for too long.

Or you could wait and see if someone else has a solution.

Anyway, I wasn't going to lock it or anything, I thought maybe you were unaware that it was 2 years old, considering it is EXACTLY 2 years old to the day.   ;D
