How about a hand to hand combat action you can use from the action menu. For example when you use the action an attack anim will occur and anyone  close enough to you will drop (but not be bloody, just drop down.)

Well, that would be quite easy to make yourself. Give it a try.

Unless you're beating up helpless civilians, you're not going to get close enough to a close range attack. But it is possible if you want to do it.

Not unless you sneak up on them, right?

That is, if it is a sneaking mission...

Damn, I forgot the codes you could've used >:(
Oh well, look at the Command Referance, I have Hammy's 1.91 version, I find it very useful at times :)

You can get that close to an enemy? I never can.

Is it possible to sneak up on an enemy?
I've not managed (Not that I've tried a lot, though)

There is a thread in the Advance Scripting forum about the limitations of the AI.  Apparently the AI troopers all suffer from severe cases of deafness and tunnel vision - if you walk up behind them they usually never know that you're there.

Try making a dead simple scenario - bad guy facing north, you facing north 100m to the south of him.  Now run, sprint, crawl, duck, dodge and weave your way up to him.  You should be able to get right next to him before he wakes up.

Fire your gun just once however and he'll be on the ground in a shot !

I think that they fixed up AI deafness / tunnel vision in Resistance, otherwise I'm hoping they give the AI a good seeing to in OFP2 !

Really.. I tried placing some one infront of me, and going prone, and going up behind him... I got about 2 (game) meters and he turned around, and wen't for his main weapon that was on his back (Or was it his pistol..? Not sure)..

Although I could have reached him, if I stood up and ran forwards.. I suppose this would work..
Anyway -- I found a script on OFPEC.. but can't find it again! I've attached it to this post.. It is exactly what you need, I think :)
The script is by A Talking Penguin.. Can anyone find the page that this is on :S

If anyone wants me to remove the attachment, just message/email me..

Sneaking on an enemy is one of the easiest things to do depending on what the person is doing, if he is standing still i can walk right up, put my pistol to his head and watch tv for an hour or two before shooting him in the back of the head and he would never know i was there

what YOUR guy is also helps in the sneaking

if you use black op your chances of sneaking are much higher then any other unit considering the AI has harder time seeing and hearing a Black op.

i have been able however to sneak on a enemy from his right or left side and get very close before he turns
