Onscreen display
« on: 15 Sep 2003, 23:32:11 »
Does anyone know if it is possible to have a trigger when activated displays all the radio choices on the screen and allows you to select from the on screen menu?

I am working on a mission where you can select your own team (at, aa , MG, sniper) whatever. I am using the createunit command to have them appear out of thin air, but I was wondering if its possible to have those choices displayed on your screen instead of using the radio (backspace, 0,0, choice)? and also have it so I can use it forever. I know radio commands can be set to repeat

Hope I explained this right so that it makes sense to someone else. ;D

I don't know much about dialogues but I suspect that is what you want.

Alternatively, if you don't want to get into that, you could use addAction to make things appear in the yellow action menu.    The choices won't all display at once but at least you can scroll up and down.
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

Yes, dialogs (must...fight...urge...to...write...dialogues...aaagh!). These little babies are what you want. They're cool-looking and very useful for just about anything.

I looked into it. And then I looked out. Until someone makes a tool for creatign dialogs, I'm not touching them again. I HATE editing description.exts. You put a single bloody { on the wrong place or a space or tab somewhere...and it desktop-crashes. *grumblemutter*

Anyhow, don't be too frightened, it's not disgustingly hard. But yes, its pretty advanced and it doesn't allow for any mistakes. But I'm pretty sure it'd be worth it in the end.

(I will give free chocolate to anyone who can create a good tool for creating dialogues.)

Wolfrug out.

Anyone have any samples of Dialogues.  I'll take a look-see, and if it is not too auful, I'll come up with a tool to create'em.

But I have to get the concept first.  Been looking for a good home programming project to take my mind off work programming.
