Making mission - CTD
« on: 06 Sep 2003, 05:44:00 »
So, I'm making a mission, but I haven't made the briefing yet...I've placed markers in the editor, and outlined objectives. Now, do I have to define them in the briefing right away?

I seem to be crashing to desktop a lot while making this mission (and this mission alone)....I'm wondering if it's the above stated scenario that makes OFP crash, or something else...

Have you guys dealt with CTD's when making a mission? How did you solve it?

Anton,

The only rason i can think of why a misison should crash to the deskop is -

1. - A fault in teh description.ext file .... this file (as u probably know) is loaded at teh very beggning of the missio loading...

ANy other ideas  ppl ?

Thanks....that at least gives me a place to start.

Would a fault like that crash the mission RIGHT at the start, or when the erroneous part is called?

Anton,

If the .ext file has a problem/error then when u load the mission thru the Editor as i suppose u do  - the game will cut back to Windows automatically and then the Error Dialogue will appear ;D

Hope that has helped you  ;)

Sweet....so if it shows an error, then it means that there isn't an error in my .ext file.  ;)

However this leaves me with a CTD mission that i've worked so damn long on.

Someone told me it might have to do with the deletevehicle command. I have cars that pass through triggers, and on activation, it deletes the cars. I don't know why this is a bad thing, so if anyone can give me more help, that'd be great!

If you have a vehicle with a waypoint, do not use deletevehicle on it.  I've had this problem with helicopters before.  If you want to get rid of the car, just setpos it to [0,0,0].  That will be in the middle of the ocean so it will just sink.
