Placing Units in buildings
« on: 23 Aug 2003, 21:09:06 »
Is it possible to place units inside of buidling and on diffrent floors of buidlings, instead of them always ending up on either the roof/highest floor?

I have used the set position command to place units inside of multi-level buildings, but they always ended up on the ground floor.

using the setpos command normally works, so long as you select the right height.  so not sure why that didn't work.  otherwise you could use waypoints.  when you place these over a building you then get options in the waypoint edit screen in which you can select house positions.  not sure how well this works though.

I just tried the waypoint thing you suggested but, I got no options for setting house positions so I guess that's a no go. Anyway it might be because the building I am using has several floors, but the main floor is very tall and has catwalks around it and such.

Does anyone else have a suggestion?

Try again with the waypoints.   You have to get the waypoint to "attach" itself to the building.    It does work.

setPos is indeed the other way.  usually you do have to  play with  a bit to make it work.

Like so many things in OFP, a measure of persistance is essential.  ;D

da line goes like dat

unitname setpos [X,Z,Y]

unitname : da unit u wanna setpos

setpos : command

[X,Y,Z] : coordinates

X : is da position from left 2 right (on da map)
Z : up and down (on da map)
Y : high of da unit

or mebe da X was da up and down nd Y was da left n right ? donno ::)

nywayz u can do it da easier way

unitname setpos getpos unitname2

unitname : da unit u wanna setpos

setpos : command

getpos : command

unitname2 : da unit u wanna put da 1st unit on - use gamelogic 4 invisble unit

Do I have to post the pirate copy of "LCD'ish" again?! ::)...
Nah, I can't afford another lawsuit ;D :P...
Quote
X : is da position from left 2 right (on da map)
Z : up and down (on da map)
Y : high of da unit

or mebe da X was da up and down nd Y was da left n right ? donno

X= left & right.

Y= forward & backwards.

Z= up & down.

How could anyone think that LCD's spelling is bad? :hmm:
