« on: 17 Aug 2003, 12:24:32 »
Hi,

is there a way to check what kind of weapon a unit is currently holding in his hands? Like whether it's a primary weapon or a secondary.

thx

I think not.. but I'm a noob.
You can detect what type of weapon the unit has (m60,m16,AK47,PK and so on), but not if it is primary or secondary.

Learn about the commands hasweapon, weapon, primaryweapon and secondaryweapon.   They may help you.

Details in the Command Reference.   I recommend the online version in the Editors Depot.

I'm not sure if there is a command that returns the currently active weapon.   Read through the command ref and see if you can find one.
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

Yes, thanks guys, but I already know how to use all those commands. As far as I know they don't detect which weapon the unit got on his back and which he is holding in his hands. They just check the weapons he posseses, no matter which one he is holding. I want to know this because I'm trying to force the player to be able to remove his glasses and put them back on again using action commands. The thing is that the animation I use for him to remove the glasses makes him holster his weapon, which is good, but it takes him more time holstering his secondary weapon than his primary. The outcome of this is that the glasses disappears about a second too late when the player is holding a pistol. What I'm trying to do now is to have him use the action "combattobinoc" when holding his big gun, "FXCivilHandMouth" when he's holding his pistol or don't have any weapon at all. This would require two different "FXCivilHandMouth", since it takes him less time performing the action when unarmed.
I think I'm stuck forever.

Thx guys, yer the best.  :)
