the K pot, or any other Helmet in the U.S. Aresenal, couldn't stop an AK bullet at Point Blank besides Delta Dont Care about Being Shot if they do things Right, the Enemy wont have time to Shoot, they're More worried about Hitting their Heads

Well, I'm sure there are quite a few guys out there that would disagree with you on that.

The teenage armchair comments are a bit over the top these days. I suggest some of you kids calm down some and stop quoting BHD so much.

While I would disagree that they, ( Delta operatives ) are not afraid of being shot in the head; I would venture that that the choice of a smaller, less-armored helmet is about their need for speed and less encumberance. The Protechs probably obscure vision much less than a full-sized PASGT style helmet, but provides the protection needed for parachuting, moving in small, cramped spaces like the interior of aircraft and armored vehicles and moving in dark confined areas like alleys and hallways.
There are no real pro's that aren't afraid of being badly injured and/or killed during a mission, they just deal with the odds better. Training and talent help make up for inadequacies in weapons and equipment, but they DO die, and leave pieces of themselves on the battlefield from time to time.

For fuck sake.....enoguh already!!! I'm sick of this constant bickering everytime we announce a project and try and share our progress.

Everyone is a friggin armchair expert......

It's not enough that we put so much dedication into these addons...we have to put up with this crap as well.

If this continues....we will just cease posting any news.

How about showing some appreciation for the efforts of those who FREELY make NEW units for you to play with and stop the "addon maker X...you have no idea what you are modelling because my dad is in the army and he says blah, blah, crap, crap"

We are doing the best we can and "simulating" Delta's of the BHD time frame the best we can. Why BHD....mainly because Deltas haven't been involved in much (that we know about) since Somalia....nothing that requires military clothing anyway (they have been wearing civvies in Afghanistan)

Please.....I'm sick of reading all the negativity around here. It really begins to create an impression of an ungrateful whining community and makes addon makers wonder why the hell they even pour so much of themselves into this.

Please think before you post....is this constructive? or is it simply a?@post showing everyone how much I know about military subjects at the expense of chipping away at the morale of the addon maker?

Tigershark,

Don't let them get you down, there are more that apprectiate, respect, and are in giddy awe of the work coming from BAS then those that quibble about things they no nothing about and contribute even less then the sound of their own high-pitched voices.

Your news is not wasted, though it may seem so by the responses of plebians on the boards- know that.

We who use your Pavehawks, Chinook, Littlebirds everyday and eagerly await everything else that you so freely and excellently design and distribute are behind you.

So please, nolite te bastardes coborumdorum- don't let the bastards get you down.

For Tigershark: I'm not sure who that rant was aimed at, but as it was made just after mine, I hope it wasn't directed at me. I'd be happy to discuss it with you in PM...
I agree with everything you said, I've seen so many mod teams and forums crippled due to the cruelty of people who have no vested interest in the mod's creativity, but expect the team to satisfy their every whim.

That having been said, I was wondering if Nagual was going to update his Littlebird mission, with the new units and aircraft, as BAS releases them? Also, I remember someone releasing a very cool, and quite comprehensive campaign/mission pack for Delta. I was wondering if Nagual was going to do something similar?

I haven't posted on this subject but i've been following it closely.

Like the man said, don't let em get you down..There are hundreds of us who don't post much but read the posts and download the addons and appreciate them immensly!

When it boils down to it, who really cares what type of helmet the guys wear? I know realism is everything but it doesn't matter that much, its like saying that the "Warning:Rotor blades" sign on the blackhawk is 3 inches to the left of where it should be....nobody notices in the ehat of combat.  Just glancing it as you jump from the chopper and you realise detail, not wrong placing.

its the same as this. You'll see the differences and 'faults' in the screenshots but when you get the addon you wont care or notice them! Small asthetic issues don't matter!

Looking foward to this one BAS...as always your excelling and pionering a new level of detail in this fine game of ours!

There are larger issues to contend with if pointing out details makes such a big impact on morale and is publicly expressed as "whining"...

Feel free to peruse www.socnetcentral.com, www.assaultweb.net, or www.ar15.com

Lots of guys in service (white and black, especially. And I don't mean the color of their skin) right now you could talk to. Especially at SOCNET.

Lay off already, noone cares about your continuous, pointless "whining" but you Edge:(

Vyper is right, there is a lot of people who love your addons but who dont post their comments often enough.  Then there are the people who go over every inch of an addon looking for a minor detail that they can come complain about it on the forums, trying to make themselves look "cool" by claiming they are ex-military people and are "experts on the subject".  The only thing that they dont realize is noone believes there crapastic stories and noone cares.

BTW, I am still playing around with youre Littlebirds which I love.  I started making a cool mission for the MH-6 but got bored with it when I ran into problems with OFPs mission editor(im still a begginner lol). Maybe Ill finish it over xmas break. As for this thread it should probably be closed too and just open a new one when they are released.

What is it less than 6 days til Xmas now, you BAS guys better be working hard ;D

@Edge...the point is, this type of thread appears in every single forum I visit....everyone trying to push their own agenda with relation to our addons. Everything is about compromise....and we also have lives we have to lead as well. If we were to implement everyone's input (which in many cases can conflict from post to post with everyone claiming to be an expert on the topic) we would never get them done.

Morale of the team is fine but I must say my morale has been affected by this when the achievement of the addon is belittled by someone pointing out such a minor thing as "the helmet is all wrong". Sure we could make a 2 helmet version and then you guys could enjoy downloading the 200mb file with every possible Delta configuration ever known to man. Is this realistic?

Look...I wasn't specifically targetting this at anybody...I just feel these comments are not CONSTRUCTIVE anymore...just a forum for everyone to mouth of about their knowledge.

It's a game...and at BAS we strive for realism...but we also have to make compromises and design decisions...as all computing professionals must do when they work on a project.

I'm humbly asking that people think a little bit more before they post. Ask yourself is it THAT important that it would detract from the realism of the addon. In my mind I feel it would be more important to get weapons correctly modelled than a helmet. Don't you all agree? Seeing as 1) you see them from 1st person perspective 2) you actually use them in game....they are the core of what you do....shoot the enemy.

I am just getting frustrated at seeing post after post, email after email of people implying that we are doing it all wrong and that if we implement their suggestion our addons would be perfect.

Don't get me wrong...we are always open to CONSTRUCTIVE criticism.....but some of the suggestions being made are so frivilous I can't believe they have launched entire barrages of posting.

Please....just a little balance here peeps......if you have a genuine issue with the way a rifle fires, a Littlebird flies, and Blackhawk handles....these are all great things we can take on board and improve upon. But keep in mind we cannot make every known configuration of Deltas or the filesize would be so rediculous I bet we'd cop flak for it. Already the weapon pack is much larger than we'd like....and potentially getting bigger.

I know this seems like a rant....but I'm only human like the rest of you....and I'm getting a little tired of all the bickering.

The BAS team and I just wanna make good quality addons cause we love this game so much and would like to share the fruits of our labour with you, the community. We have a UNREAL team of extremely talented modders and real world operators from various branches of the US Military who "consult" to us. We do notn wanna be "gods" of the OFP community....we just wanna see our projects come to frution. Please remember that we do this hard work to satisfy are own desire to see these units in OFP. We are not a company like BIS from which you can demand to have certain things included or changed. In some cases it's just the language that offends me. "You should..." instead of "One suggestion might be...". I think it just shows a general lack of appreciation and consideration when interacting with someone that wants to do something that you can benefit from FOR FREE and with NO EFFORT on your part.

We do the best we can to please you guys.....but we can't please everyone. We realised this a long time ago....and as such, make design decisions for very carefully thought out reasons (like the MP5 on the LB....yeah it's silenced which it shouldn't be....but at least it's a standard OFP model and doesn't require a new addon to be shipped with the LB).

Is this all unreasonable??? Tell me if I'm all alone here or if I've been able to convince at least a couple of people to tone it down a little.

A lot of us already get all that Tigershark  ;) just the few military 'experts' like to stroke their egos whenever possible. BAS addons are absolutely top notch and none can dispute that, you guys do great work. I just hope people learn what constructive criticism is and keep their selfserving oppinions to themselves. As always keep up the great work BAS

And to all you ignorant arm-chair addon makers  :moon: don't like an addon - Make one yourself!

Sorry,
Seeing how I was the moron who started the whole helmet thing. But I want to make a few things clear to some of you guys.

1. I'm not a demanding person. When I posted up the reply about the helmets, I did not say "make these or'll never look at this addon" (I know no one has said that about me, but it's to those who are maybe thinking it)

2. I'm not a part of the Military, I'm a  member of the Army Cadet Force and will soon be joining the Army. I am not an expert in that field of Military, I never said I was.

3. I'm looking for to this Addon alot. I've seen the Delta Force done by HK pack and was very disappointed with it. So I'm very looking for to these 'D-Boys' and their 'toys' (weapons).
