MISSION.SQM - HACKING / Res."bug" ?

 Anyho'  - I've noticed something; back in v_1.4 we could place a
flagpole & then change it to, say a building or whatever, via hacking
into the mission file and change the "VEHICLE" type.

Now ( v_1.75 ) all I get is NOTHING  ??? >:( ::) No change, nada!!!!

Wassup w/ that, soldiers?! Is this true  :o :'( ... coz if so, it's a disaster!!!
It will mean that everyone now needs the editor addons to be able to
play missions which contains custom placed buildings/objects  :(

Lemme hear yer own experiences on that one, pals  ???

I wonder if that is the same with side changes... (which are about the only reason I ever modify an .sqm file with a text editor).

As far as building placements go:

bld = "buildingname" createvehicle position

:thumbsup:

buildingname should be exactly the same as it appears in the .sqm file ;)

Well, you can certainly change the sides by editing the .sqm in Res, dunno about the whole house thing though.  :-\

Why are you editing anyway?  You are too busy to be having fun!

True that! But my professors are giving me 60 pages (english txt and I'm danish) per day,
so I thought a lil' eng. lectures in the editor & here would shape up my brains!  :D ( ::) )

100.1%  I turned a "barrels" into a "Hangar_Hall" with no problems.

See, it's done the right way, but still it suck?!  :o

where it reads FlagCarrier I typed : Housedumruina_mini (a valid house name)
But when I preview the mission it's changed back to a frikkin' flagpole!!!  >:(

hmmm tomby old boy - works for me - and icarus and probally everyone here...

*shrug*

ummmm... try and reinstall resistance - i cant possibly think what you could be doing wrong...

u are just changing the vehicle name to a new name so that it will become a house or whatever?

try and use a barrel or a fortress (barrel works for icarus and fortress works for me)

not much else i can think of...

weird danes  ;)

Well, from now on I'll just use sui's method & put a named trigger on the map
and simply "createVeh. getpos trigg_name" the buildings I need  8)


...but if other ppl (maybe ppl with v_1.46) wanna DL/play a mission which uses
this method, they might experience a crash or two  :o :P :(
Thus: I'd like to know if v_1.75 really HAVE "killed" the good ol' hacking method or not.

The new way of doing this is cool - NO doubt about that, but
in my opin. uploaded missions should still be made with the old method, hence the
"easy-download-easy-gameplay-no-crashes-warrant" we all like to see  :D :)

makes things cool for everybody, regardless of yer version!

Never!  >:( ::) ;D I'm a stubborn bastard - I refuse to believe that I actually have
a bug in my private OFP install.  :P :noo: Heck, my son has broken the orig. disc so I
only have the RES cd, which means I can't reinstall the game.
(and why'd I do that when everything else is working fine?!)

Bottoms are: wtf is this  ??? my own version of the game is starting to
auto-revert any hacking I do  :o

that's probably the oddest thing I've ever seen!  ??? :hmm:
