Realistic water explosions

using particle effects (like dust script) i was wondering if it was possible to create those depth charge like explosions in water? would look good for tanks that shoot into water, or any1 who creates depth charges etc...

any1 working on this or trying this?

Hmmm, it should work but I dont think you can delete the original explosion effect so it would look kinda silly.

i didn't mean that... lol... i meant more for cutscenes or whatever... just to have the effect of explosions under water and the column of water rising up etc

Don't be afraid of the drop command! It's actually pretty simple and easy to use once you get used to it and use it a little bit. Read Vektorbosen's drop tut and keep it around for reference. Then grab one of the drop engines in the editors depot. Get started with a particle from one of those engines, then mess around with it to see a bit (using the knowledge you gained from the tutorial). You should be dropping great effects in notime!

I know, because I was like you a few weeks ago. I thought that the drop command was probobally preetty complicated and hard to use. But then I did the above, and now I'm pretty comfortable with the command.

Hey

I've read the drop tut, and I really don't get it . . . I mean, I understand the basis of it, but I don't get how to put it together as so to speak.

I'm not really into computers, I mean Christ, it took me a year to become a good cut-scene scripter . . . so if there's anyone I could talk to on MSN or something about the Drop, that would be cool. Then in about 50 years time, I could make a water explosion script ;)

What, there's a drop editor? I've written all my drops by hand. :-\

O Neil: If I don't understand a tute for example the first time I read it I take a short break and then come back to read it all over again, short break, read, short break, read. This way it might have taken me about a year to teach myself doing dialogs(which I still find very hard)but I sure as hell made progress!

what works best is to not only read, but to do what it says step by step

takes less time to learn something if you do it then if you only read it  ;)

ECP mod got a new water explosion,  ;D really great looking but maybe not as big as a depthcharged sub.
