A newbie in Need
« on: 05 May 2003, 11:47:46 »
Hi! I just registered! I am a newbie when it comes to mission editing, so I have some questions:

1. How do you make soldiers/people sit on chairs? I have seen this in cutscenes and I would like to try it out in editing.

2. I am  going to make a mission where the player character is a civilian. How do I make him start with a gun?

1. You must place him near a chair and use the appropriate switchmove (move)

2. Name your player. In the init.sqs put this:

player AddMagazine Weapon
.
.
player AddWeapon Weapon

All the actions and weapons are listed in various tutorials in the ed depot.

Simon

What is a switchmove? Can someone explain that? I really don't understand all this scripting mumbo-jumbo.

Switchmove is a script command. The use is:

unitname switchmove movename

It makes the unit named "unitname" plays the action named "movename".

Search the tutorials. You will find a list of all available moves.

Welcome to the forums Osama the One!   :)  As SimonRussi said, we have a lot of good tutorials here.    There's a whole section devoted to people who are new to mission editing.   The fastest way to learn is to spend some time there.

Hey blackie!  ;)

Yanno, that was the only good thing about post counts: anyone could see if a guy was new to editing (or at least to the forums).
Now, I can't welcome anyone anymore - feels bad, it makes me feel rude sort of  ::)

Yeah its a shame, it does make the forum feel less friendly but you can usually spot new comers, especially when they say things like this

If I suspect a noob I just click on the name to get their profile, then last 10 posts to see if there are any .... and you can see the date they registered, so if it's today......

Overall its a bit of a pain, but just one of these things I suppose and it is only one or two clicks.
